A Bunch Of Stuff And Things

It's been a week. Oh boy.

Firstly, thanks to these lovely people for following:
  • deathspark21
  • spacecat

And thanks to these awesome peeps for signing up to Project Connect:
  • 2bit
  • 4ivilo
  • g1b3r1sh
  • hobbledehoy899
  • spacecat

I mean, technically we only have 4 more people, because spacecat is literally coolman, but whatever.

So, I've been working on Project2 lately because, well, there's nothing interesting to post about really. I figured that I'd post something today since I've done nothing with this site in a week.

Speaking of this site, what should I do with it: should I just keep uploading posts, or should I do something else with it? I don't know.

One idea I have is a big long mega-post where I talk about my development process: from making projects for Project2, to making posts, to making server-side stuff like Project Connect. Hell, maybe I'll make a whole page for it. Who knows? If I do, I'll probably include a bunch of links to all the libraries I use, and all the software I use too, which will be cool.

Also, there's gonna be a Project Connect chat coming to Project2 in the near future. It's pretty much functional at this point, and it looks pretty sweet too. But again, that's just me. Hopefully it will look good and function good when I decide to make it live!

Finally, sorry about the lack of posts recently. It's pretty much because I'm either too lazy or I'm doing something else. I'm probably gonna resume posting though!

Anyway, I've gotta see what the hell my friends are messaging me for, so cya!

Project Connect

So recently I released Project Connect: a way to know who is on your site. There aren't many people signed up yet, but the more people sign up, the bigger Project Connect will grow! You can sign up here.

But anyway, thanks to:
  • 1034co
  • anthonynaber
  • coolman
for signing up! :D

If you're interested in using Project Connect, you can go here to learn how to put it into your website!

Anyway, I've gotta watch Game Grumps, so cya!

School Post

So, I'm bored. Very bored. So, I've decided I'm gonna do a post from school today. Hooray!

So I've just had Graphic Design (I have no idea why I chose it), and I've got Chemistry next (eughh), but that's for future me to worry about. Right now, it's lunch, and I have finished my lunch.

I'm probably gonna work on Mario when I get home. Maybe I'll add a flag pole? I don't know. Maybe I could animate teh question mark block? We'll see.

Also, I am yet again faced with the built in Neocities editor, which, in my opinion, isn't very good: no auto-complete, no tab options, and no suggestions on what tags to use. Maybe Brackets has spoilt me. I don't know.

Anyway, I'm gonna go to registration, so cya!

Heya! Sorry for the long wait!

So, Project2 has a new project: Mario! I'm not gonna put a link. They don't work.

Anyway, it was a nightmare to make for many reasons. One reason is collisions. I hate collisions. Anytime I do something, Mario glitches out in some way or another. It's terrible! Thankfully though, I managed to get it to a pretty good standard. I'll probably use that collision system for every other project too, since it's such as hassle.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with it so far! It looks pretty snazzy (at least in my browser), so I'm probably going to continue with it. I'm hoping to have a feature which allows you to share levels, just like Super Mario Maker, but for that I'd need ANOTHER database.

Also, I've been watching a lot of Judge Rinder recently. It's like Judge Judy, but it's a different judge. Just thought I'd put that out there.

Anyway, I've gotta watch some more Judge Rinder, so cya!

So I've been looking at Scratch projects recently, and I have to say, some of them are actually pretty good!

If you have no idea what Scratch is, it's basically drag and drop programming, which, in my opinion, is a pretty good way to start off (I started programming with Game Maker, which is also drag and drop). Now one thing about drag and drop programming is it's fairly restrictive: you can't really do much in terms of making complicated stuff, but obviously, a beginner programmer will only be doing simple stuff.

What I like about Scratch, though, is the fact that you can do a lot with it. You can even make 3D stuff with it! However, it is fairly complicated as there aren't any libraries or anything. And it runs in Flash.

But if you want to get into programming (like JavaScript for instance), Scratch is a great way to start. It may seem a bit childish, but I really think it's a good way to learn!

Honestly, I wished I had've used Scratch instead of Game Maker: Scratch looks nicer and is easier to use. I could probably use both now, as I've been coding for about 5 years now (I started coding when I was 9).

Anyway, I've gotta chill, so cya!

New Layout!

Hello again!

So, I decided to give the website a little makeover, so here's a list of changes:
  • There's a cool triangle background now!
  • The "testing" tab actually has a page (kinda).
  • The navbar shrinks a bit when you scroll down, and it's fixed too.

And that's about it! Not much, but it took a lot of work, especially fitting the iframe into the webpage, which required me to move the files for this website onto my webserver, which was terrible, but definitely worth it! I hope you guys like it!

Also, I have a bad headache right now. Like, really bad. Probably because it's pretty late. I need to sleep more, but before I do that, let's talk about Project2!

So, me and Rift haven't been working on Project2 that much anymore, mainly because we've run out of ideas! So, if anyone has any, let us know! We'll try and make it (emphasis on try).

Anyway, I have GOT to sleep, so cya!

So, first of all, my neck hurts quite a bit, which means I couldn't post yesterday. Sorry.

And also, I don't know how I'm going to continue this blog. Recently I've been losing motivation on making stuff, especially on Neocities. I've been part of this community for about 10 months or something, and honestly, I think it's time to move on now.

When I started this site, it looked horrible, but I was proud of it because it was literally my first website. I'd never tried HTML before, and I thought I had mastered it at that point (I hadn't). But as I got more experience and made more complex things, I started looking back at the stuff I'd made, and I thought, "Hey, I'm getting better at this whole HTML thing!"

But now, my websites have lost that spark they had before. There's a sense of unawareness in those old websites, where I had no clue what I was doing. But I didn't care. And now I do.

Every website I make now has to be up to the highest standard I can make, but making things look nice sucks all the creativity out like a vacuum, as least for me. To prove my point, look at some typical Bootstrap layouts. They're all the same, I guarantee you.

I feel as if my websites are the same now: just a boring old navbar at the top, and a whole load of stuff at the bottom. I mean, I have a cool outline below it, but it's useless; it doesn't add anything.

And also, there's no point. I'm not enjoying it anymore, and nobody's enjoying my stuff either. I thought I could carry this on forever, but nothing lasts forever. Nothing.

I'll probably make posts when there's something worth making a post about: perhaps something funny that's happened, or something I need to talk about. I don't know.

Anyway, I've gotta deal with this neck problem, so cya.

So, I've decided: I'm finally going to start using Blender. It's a free modelling program which also allows you to make really realistic scenes. It looks amazing!

If you want to see some sick Blender stuff, check out Blender Guru. He is an expect on the software, and personally, I love him.

Also, sorry for the short uploads recently. I've literally been doing these posts just before I go to bed, so I can't really write much. I'm just so busy, so sorry! Really! I'm sorry!

Anyway, I've got to sleep (sorry), so cya!

So, I'm working on a game now! It's called 51lence, and you'll have to hack into Area 51, hence the name. I don't want to give much away, but I'm sure it'll be cool when it's done, so stay tuned!

And don't worry guys, the marble race is coming. I'm gonna work a lot on it over the weekend, and there may be a chance that I can squeeze out a level or two! Probably not though.

Anyway, I've got to sleep because I always leave these posts until it's really late, so cya!

Maths and Packs

So, I like Maths, especially my teacher. He's a bit weird, but he's funny because of it. I mean, he doesn't mean to be funny. It's just all of his weird stuff that he does that makes him amazing.

So me and Rift are in the same class for Maths, and we have a lot of injokes about our teachers. One of those teachers is our Maths teacher. One thing he has are things called "MathsPacks". Basically, they're just tests, and yet, he pretends he invented them. He literally thinks he invented tests.

This probably won't be funny to literally anyone else apart from me and Rift, but if you find this funny, good for you! If you don't, well, too bad.

Anyway, I've got to get ready for FRIDAY, which is a terrible day, so cya!

Web Design Inspiration

So, first of all, I didn't upload yesterday. I guess double uploads are too much for my little brain to handle. :'(

Anyway, I've been cruising through the land of inspiration lately, and my god, there are some cool websites on there that put mine to shame. Most of them look the same: massive picture with some text or a button or something, and then a 3 column display of what you do, and then some more generic stuff. But some of them look amazing and cool.

One of the websites was like a giant cube that you could scroll around. It blew my mind! It was probably made with a 3D library or something, but if it wasn't, props to them (I can't remember the name of the website). 3D is hard to make without a 3D library (trust me, I've tried). Please don't do it. Use three.js or something.

But anyway, the point is I've been looking at websites so I can make mine better, because let's face it, there's not much here at the moment: there's just a stupid little bar at the top which is completely useless. I'm thinking of separating the posts into an iframe or something so I can put it to good use, but I can never be bothered.

Also, I've been looking at froghand recently too, and oh boy does he write a lot. I'm not experienced at writing at all, nevermind writing daily posts, which is one of the many reasons why I started this blog in the first place: so I can get better! And now, I love writing posts! So thanks, froghand.

Anyway, I've gotta find more ways to procrastinate, so cya!

Hello again!

OK, so first of all, in Science, I literally drew the BEST GRAPH EVER. Alright, on with the post.

So I wanted to do two uploads today. I don't know why. I think it's just because I have nothing else to do apart from play SM64 on my old DS, which my mum is selling on eBay which is pretty sad, because my DS is literally my childhood. Talking about SM64, I finally beat it today! I couldn't beat it when I was like 11, but now, obviously, it's not that bad. I thought it was really difficulty before, but I don't know why, because it was pretty easy.

You know, I'm writing a lot of stuff in these recent posts. Too much. Too many sentences! Help!

Anyway, I've got to do some SLEEPING, so cya!

Two Post Special?

So, I'd like to stick to having at least one post a day, every day, and so far, it's been surprisingly easy. I mean, it's only one post, and I don't have to write much. I could probably do this for years!

But I'm at school now, and I only have the Neocities editor, so I am NOT used to this. What I'm used to is auto-completing HTML tags, and a cool colour scheme.

Anyway, because of this, I'll also be doing a longer post later today (or maybe tomorrow because timezones). That'll probably be a hastle, since I'll have to move all the code over to my computer, but it's not that big of a deal.

Also, I'm going to try and get that physics thing done today. I've been putting it off since it'll probably be difficult, but today, I'm definitely going to try and get it done, even if it's only partly (which it will be).

Anyway, I've got to do some HOMEWORK, so cya!

Literally Nothing

Nothing happened today. Literally. I mean, it's school tomorrow. That's cool, I guess. But I didn't get any followers today, and I didn't code anything.

Now that I think about it, I did nothing today apart from watch stupid SM64 videos, and yet I'm still writing a post. About nothing. How? I don't know. Why? No idea!

I'm being serious, by the way. There's literally nothing to write about, apart from the absolute lack of things to write about, which, in itself, is pretty good writing material in my opinion. I mean, aren't you entertained? Isn't this the absolute best thing you've read all day? I hope it isn't, because if it is, you have a pretty boring life. Just kidding! You're amazing!

Anyway, I've gotta g-
Wait. I just got a follower! Thank you, shelfdust. You following me is literally the best thing to happen all day, so thanks!

But anyway, I've gotta get ready for SCHOOL, so cya!

Yet ANOTHER Marble Race Update!

Hey guys. We've got two followers today! And here they are:
  • anlucas
  • clyphe
Thanks guys!

So, I've fixed the performance issues on the marble race, and now, I need to make a way to simulate the physics on my computer. This will be a big step to getting this thing to work, but it's definitely possible.

But enough about technical details. Let's talk about the finished list of marble people!

They are:
  • 1080p-lemonade
  • 2bit
  • anthonynaber
  • chesto
  • coolman
  • joppiesaus
  • palutena
  • rainydaygaming
  • rift
  • the-ringmaster

Sorry guys. No more spaces! But, maybe they'll be another marble race. Who knows?

Anyway, I've got to sleep, so cya!

More Marble Race Stuff

Thanks to chesto for the follow. You also get a virtual cookie!

We've got 9 marble people now! And they are:
  • 1080p-lemonade
  • 2bit
  • anthonynaber
  • chesto
  • coolman
  • joppiesaus
  • palutena
  • rainydaygaming
  • rift

One more space left guys!

So, I've released a demo of the marble physics here, but it's kinda buggy and stuff. So, I'm gonna talk about fixing it, which means...

The main reasons for these issues are that the physics are being calculated client-side, and it has to load 10 separate images for all of the marbles. This is fairly intensive. So, obviously, I need to fix this.

Physics are a big issue. Calculating everything on the client means that some simulations may differ, and a different marble may win. My solution to this problem is to store all of the positions, sizes and rotations in a JSON file. Obviously, it will be quite a big file, so I'll do what I can to minimise the amount of data in it.

As for the images, I will need to store them on a texture atlas, which is basically a bunch of textures on one image. This will allow me to only load 1 image, which is significantly smaller than 10, and that will sort out any performance issues.

All that, and I have to implement a way to complete levels, a way to make levels, and a way to simulate the physics on my computer. I have a lot of work to do. But hopefully, once it's all said and done, I'll be able to have a whole load of marble races in the future! We can dream.

Anyway, I'm gonna go to sleep because it is LATE where I am, so cya!

Marble Race Update!

Thanks to edwardcollinson for being the only follower today! Here, edwardcollinson, have a virtual cookie.

Anyway, the Marble Race is happening.

I've got four marble people so far, and here they are:
  • 1080p-lemonade
  • 2bit
  • coolman
  • anthonynaber

So if you are one of these people, great news: you're in. If you are not one of these people, you can get into the Marble Race by sending me a message here. But beware! There are only 10 places (or more maybe I don't know).

Also, I've kinda realised that live races are NOT going to work. So here is the plan:
  1. Everyday, run a marble race.
  2. Somehow upload the marble race onto Project2.
  3. You guys can see who is eliminated every day.
  4. After about 10 days, the winner is announced!

This seems like a solid plan to me. Hopefully it will work!

Anyway, I've got some marbles to draw, so cya!

The Neocities Marble Race (and other silly ideas)

Hey guys. No followers today. :(

So, I've been having a lot of cool ideas for things to make. Now, these aren't small things that I want to make, these are big things. Multiplayer things mainly. And I've realised I need to make something. Something cool.
Here are my ideas:

  • The Neocities Marble Race
Basically, every month or some other period of time, people can sign up for the marble race. Then, the people that sign up get their own marble in the race. At the end of the month, the marble race will start, and you can tune in and watch. The marbles are put into a sort of marble machine, and they can get to the end. The last marble to get there is out, and the marbles go through a new machine. The last marble left wins, and that person gets a cookie or something.

  • Everyone's Corner of the Internet (ECOTI)
A website where anyone can go on and edit it. Maybe they could get their own little box to edit, so that people don't just delete the whole website. It would be pretty cool. I'd probably use it! I'd probably call it ECOTI because some blogs say something like "Welcome to my corner of the Internet" at the top.

And, in addition, all the other ideas I've had, including making this blog, making Project2, and so on.

Anyway, I've got some ideas to think about, so cya!

Hello again! Only a short post for you guys today because I completely forgot I had a blog to do.

Anyway, I'm thinking of making chess today. I mean, it's a pretty cool game. I used to play it all the time with my dad, but then I got bored, and now I think it's cool again. Maybe a chess thing on Project2? Maybe mutliplayer? Who knows?!

Only a short post for today, because I've got to find a work experience thingy, so cya!

Project2 Live

Hey guys. As usual, here are some awesome people:
  • the-ringmaster
  • 2bit
Thanks guys!

So, I made a cool new thing called Project2 Live yesterday. You can check it out here. Anyway, if you go to that link and for some reason I'm coding something, you'll see me code it live! Infact, as I'm coding this, I'm live right now!

If for some reason you want to see me code, I'll definitely be coding my blog at around 12:30 in magical British time (yes, I am from England) for this week, so don't sit around at 12:30 if you're in Canada or something.

For any other week apart from this current one, I don't know when I'll be coding. We'll just have to wait and see...

Oh yeah, also, I might redo Project Connect again if I get the chance. Before I was hosting the servers on Heroku, but it was being stupid so I moved to OpenShift, which isn't stupid.

Anyway guys, I've got other things to do, so cya!

Before I begin this post, I want to thank all these lovely people for following the site:
  • 1080p-lemonade
  • joppiesaus
  • coolman
  • gosit
Thanks guys! New followers will be added to the next post.

So, I've been playing a lot of bonk.io recently.
It's basically a game where you control a circle dude, and you have to knock off other circle dudes. It's not like other 'io' games, where you have like 100 people in a lobby. In bonk.io, there's only like 4 people. It's really fun! Play it! PLAY IT NOW!

Anyway, I'm probably gonna go work on some cool stuff with back end servers and databases today, so cya!

First Post!

Palutena is back, baby!

Hey guys. So, this website was basically dead. Well, it was dead, until now! I think this site has like 46k views or something stupid like that, so I may as well put it to good use!

So, first of all, you may notice the old homepage is gone. Or, most likely, you never got to see the old homepage. It wasn't that great. Trust me. But anyway, I decided to replace it with this thing. Is it good? Let me know!

Now, you may be thinking, why am I suddenly starting a blog?

Because Rift is starting one over at JBlogs!
It's not finished yet, but it still looks super cool. He's doing it for Media or something like that, so go follow him or something! He'd appreciate it!

Anyway, I've run out of things to write, so cya!
